Vacation Time!

I read yesterday that for a blog to be really read, the blog owner must post every 3-5 days. Yikes! Sorry guys!! (*cricket, cricket*) =)
I am on vacation in BEAUTIFUL Vermont right now with my family. Every day we’ve had rain/thunder/major storms, but always an opportunity to fish as well! Our grandparents have a small camp on a pond adjacent to their property, so my family of 6 stays there during the warmer months.
I’ve applied for 2 jobs so far, one at Target and one at Krogers, both near school. Since I now am living down near Lynchburg before student teaching this fall, I hope to get some kind of job to support my…indulgences (namely: food…eating more than Sean has its downsides!). I’ll apply for more once I’m back and can bring applications in personally, but for now, I’m stuck doing online work from the middle of VT.
I’ve been shoving myself into the corner to work on my grandparents’ elderly laptop, praying that something will work as I expect it to. Cleaned it up a bit, found a bit of spyware junk on it, but none too bad. Sadly, come to find out that a few things were not installed properly during formatting last time; I am sending away for an XP disc from Amazon – goodie!
I got a gadget for dad for Father’s Day/Birthday, but so far I can’t get it to work. I bought a dongle (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833242001) for his cell phone; this device is supposed to help me download all his pictures from his phone onto the computer. Unfortunately, the dongle does not recognize Dad’s phone, and Dad’s phone doesn’t recognize anything. So…I’m internet searching furiously for something that will help. Any clue? He has a Samsung phone, and I tried downloading what I found under his phone type, but the connection problem lies between Bluetooth of the dongle and Bluetooth of the cell phone. Ahh!
I miss crafts a lot. Reading blogs about knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and other things really makes me want to drive to Walmart (beautiful 20 minute drive…minimum) and pick up some skeins of yarn, some fabric, and some needles. Unfortunately, it’s pouring rain and I’m still trying to figure out this silly dongle thing!
One thing I have been able to do this summer is start a massive summer reading list. Thanks to Sean’s shove, I’m reading a ton of classics that I was never required to read in school. I finished “Lord of the Flies” last week – scary but pretty good! I am working on “Ethan Frome” right now as well as “The Scarlet Letter” and a few others I brought with me on the trip. Hopefully from this I can offer more reading experience to my future students!!
Tonight feels like Hamburger/Veg Soup Casserole (Barbie’s Casserole for all the Towne Family ) and maybe some strawberries from Grandma’s garden? Yum!
