Catching up on the days....

Easy how I can blog nonstop one week and the next two forget completely about it:) Thankfully breathing isn't in the same forgetful category!!

Mom needed me to babysit Miss Lauren, so I dragged Sean out of Lynchburg and we both went home to the DC area for the week.

  • Tuesday and Wednesday I was able to work with Lauren - even when fussy she's such an angel!!:)

  • Thursday my Mom worked with her so Sean and I could get up and get to DC! The trip wasn't nearly what either of us planned it to be, but we enjoyed different random points of DC we hadn't seen before.

In the middle of the Hirshhorn Museum building.

Hirshhorn Museum's Sculpture Garden fascinated my Nikon beloved:)

We went to the Hirshhorn Museum with tons of modern art pieces - not quite a fan still - as well as walked down most of the mall. Because of a festival going on at the mall, there wasn't any way to get pictures of monuments without getting tents and thousands of tourists:)

After determining that $4 was ridiculous for a small cup of lemonade from any of the vendors at the festival, I introduced Sean to Pentagon City Mall, where we had some pretty amazing burgers and fries at Johnny Rockets!! Once we walked that off, I presented my beloved with some Dippin' Dots that we both snacked on. All in all, it was a pretty good day, and the rain held off until Independence day:)

  • For Friday's festivities, Sean and I were hoping to see the DC fireworks together. Unfortunately, the day continuously called for rain, so Mom, Sean, and I did other things.
We went to Safeway and got drinks for that night as well as lunch for that moment:) After returning home to put the chilled things into the fridge, we went to a huge Dollar store near my church and got random items as well as some ice cream - yay for Push Pops and Strawberry Shortcakes!!

We decided not to go to Mount Vernon because of the rain expectations of the day, so instead we ended up watching a lot of NCIS while waiting for dark. Mom mentioned that DC would not only be more expensive to get to, but very crowded! So....we opted for fireworks in a nearby district. However, we were too comfy with NCIS to go, plus the rain kept coming on and off. Finally, we were able to see (quite illegal) fireworks lighting our neighborhood!! Some of the brave souls that don't have a police officer for a neighbor like us decided to buy some extraordinarily huge fireworks and display them that night. Beautiful! I couldn't get a picture because there were 2-5 different people setting them off at different times, plus the rain slowed them down a bit:)

  • This weekend Sean had to work, so we left early Saturday to come back to the 'burg. I, having nothing better to do, started my DLP work that's due...Friday or this upcoming Monday. I'll say Wednesday though and hopefully it'll get done today!!
I also started one of Sean's many scarf requests:P Hopefully I'll get this one plus two more done by the time cool air returns! Knitting is a bit less....focusable? than crocheting. I have a tendency to wander off in my mind, and knitting isn't something that keeps my attention well, so it's a struggle to get this done!

A book that I'm using to create different patterns says that this is a "seed stitch", where I have one stitch "flipped" every 4th stitch in every 4th row....I'm not sure if that makes sense:) I love what it does to the scarf though, and hopefully I'll be able to stop the scarf from curling once it's done!!

I also went to Barnes and Noble twice these past two days, where I proceeded to purchase about $60 in books? Too many good deals! Especially these:

Teacher books!!!!

These books were $2.99 EACH! I am student teaching in the fall, and unlike most of my fellow EDUC classmates, I do not have any parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, or very close friends who are teachers that have given me all their curriculum. I'm starting from scratch, which is a fairly painful and expensive way to go. However, I feel that God will bless me so that I can bless my future students!! If you're wondering, I am teaching 2nd and 4th grade this fall, so I bought the books most relevant to that:)

Since my roommate is gone for the weekend and won't be back till...actually fairly soon I hope...Sean asked if I wanted to do an all nighter with him. FUN stuff, but cruddy weather. We had 93% humidity with thunderstorms lurking in the sky all night, so we weren't able to play putt putt. We ended up talking with one of his housemates and his girlfriend(?) for a bit before going to get Subway. Sean found an Anime series that was pretty exciting and we watched most of the episodes. We would have watched a movie had I remembered to bring my movies with me - his are all very serious or odd humored:P Around 5:45 we went to breakfast at IHOP and got some yummy pancakes....well, I did at least;) Sean preferred some kind of veggie-filled egg dish, but we both got coffee!!

After IHOP, he drove me back home, crashed on my couch for 20-40 minutes, and went back to his place. I slept soundly for 4 straight hours. Right now I'm actually feeling quite refreshed, however shocking that might be. I'll probably try to go to bed early tonight, but right now I'm not severly tired - good!:)

Today's agenda consists of just a few things:
- reading my BIBL homework
- knitting another foot on the scarf
- reading other books!!!:)
- turning in another job application (an associate from the store let me know they have some openings)
- return library books to Liberty
- check tire pressure, oil level, and clean bird "gifts" on my car
- get gas before prices spike again.....the cheapest we have around here is $3.93 at Krogers with my bonus card.

Hopefully I can get some things due today despite the fact that it's summer and I just want to relax:) Only about another month before teaching begins!!
