Subbing Week 2!

**Definitely meant to put this up last week...sorry!

I am slowly starting to get past my introverted nature and search for teaching jobs...and accept them! :)

It was fun on Wednesday. The sub list said "Lower Elementary Grades" instead of a specific grade, and I found out why when I returned to the school on Wednesday morning. Another sub and myself watched classes 30 minutes at a time while the teachers went to some meeting (LEP?). It went well for the most part. I enjoyed this day because I got to "sample the grades" and see what I fit well with:)

5th grade was interesting. They started to talk loud but I put a stop to it rather quickly. Another sub and myself watched 2 classes combined that were watching a movie, but had to improvise when it ended and the teachers were nowhere in sight. So, we did pop questions based on the movie (MLK, Jr.). I asked them if anyone had a dream that part of our future in America could change. We did a short discussion on global warming and I got input from them on how it might be accomplished. Same with reasoning behind recycling. They were pretty good for the most part:)

4th grade was a bit challenging. They were doing writing while I watched them, and decided that since I was a sub, they would talk. I let them know that if they continued to talk and not work, I would be writing down their names and the teacher could take their time off recess or talk to you afterwards, depending on her "level of punishment." Most of the kids quieted down immediately, but I went around and found a few scragglers;) Thank goodness the teacher has the kids put their names on a name card in front of them! They never knew who I was writing down!

3rd was chaotic, but I think that was also because it was the end of the day and they were ready to go home (as I was , in some cases:)). One class I took outside to recess, another I oversaw a practice test, and the last class of the day was just reading a book and dismissal:P What fun!

On top of all this, it was teacher appreciation week! Someone created a "chocolate festival" over in the main teacher lounge. There was angel food cake with chocolate and whipped cream, choc. covered pretzels, hundreds of mini chocolate bars, Reese's, Milky Ways, etc, and chocolate frozen desserts like chocolate bars and skinny cow sandwiches! :) Mmm mmm good!

I liked having this experience over at this elementary school. It was a blast and it gave me another school to possibly bring my resume to!
