Teaching Bio

So if you've been paying close attention, I changed my library book list a little while back. I have determined that my mind functions better at a bit lower reading level than Madame Bovary and books of the like:P So, I went back to the library, returned most of those books, and got a few random titles that either I had been meaning to get for a while or books that just stuck out at me!

One book that I'd never heard of before was called 32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny. This book was written by Phillip Done. Here is the bio I found in the book:

Phillip Done was born in San Jose, California, and grew up in Sunnyvale. Phil earned his Bachelors of Music and Masters in Education from San Jose State University. He has taught elementary school for twenty years, mostly in California public schools. Phil received the Schwab Foundation Distinguished Teacher Award and was nominated for the Disney Teacher of the Year Award.

When he is not teaching, Phil enjoys studying languages, going to garage sales, collecting old movie posters, and learning how to play the piano (He never practiced when he was a kid).

Recently, Phil returned from teaching elementary school at the American International School in Budapest. He currently lives in Mountain View, California. "Third Graders and One Class Bunny: Life Lessons from Teaching" is his first book.

This book was amazing. I can't even do a review to do it justice. It made me laugh, cry, giggle, worry, and anticipate working with kids as a teacher myself. He takes the book and divides it up into the seasons of the school year: Fall, Winter, Spring, Countdown :) Each chapter is only 2-5 pages at the most, so you get through the book quickly without realizing it. His sarcastic nature is placed in just the right moments of the chapters so that you will laugh from the thought of what he is saying (or groan if you're a teacher...). I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend his book to anyone that enjoys humor, teaching, kids, or even a sarcastic wit:) I already passed this book on to my mom to read and shared several chapters with one of my younger brothers.
