Job Update!!

So, I've been searching Craigslist for a job since I got here. No such luck..... The only kind of work that I'm remotely interested in is the Nannying jobs, since the Education jobs are usually for SAT prep work. Bleh!

Today I decided to search the education jobs again online, in hopes of something being there for summer. I want to keep my fall free in case I am called up to teach for FCPS *crosses fingers*.

I finally used the search word "summer" in the box. Several showed up, including one I hadn't clicked on before. It was something from June 15th entitled "Summer Enrichment Program Teachers." It was for a PT teaching position working in a learning center in my area. I emailed them a nice cover letter along with my recent resume and went to take a shower.

15 minutes later (yes my showers are short), I come back into my room and see my phone blinking. I have a missed call...not typical so I don't think anything of it. When I see the number though, I don't recognize it, and I freak for a second. I check the voicemail and hear a stranger's voice on the line. No clue who it is, I write down the info at least - some name of an academy I haven't heard of, the person's name, the phone number, etc.

I look up the phone number online and find it's another academy than the one the message said.... I'm suspicious so I don't call the person back. 10 minutes later though, she calls me AGAIN. Apparently it's the same people I emailed my resume to 30 minutes ago! Holy cow!!!

She told me her company again, and I found it this time online while we were talking. She said they had a position for teaching rising 4th graders math and English (LA and reading) for 8 weeks. Sweet!!

I interviewed at 4pm and got the job:D The director is a great guy with a real heart for teaching these children - he's actually a guidance counsellor for FCPS currently:) He said that my classroom will probably be less than 10 students - WOW! We talked discipline, encouragement, challenging them, etc. Exciting!!!!!

Now I'm planning my little heart out - yes, 2 things I love! Planning and children! :D I will start on Monday and won't stop till mid-August. I'm just above part-time status I think....26 or 27 hours per week...but the pay is excellent and I could not ask for a better location!

Thank you God for this incredible gift you have placed in my lap! May I use these next days to prepare well for the incoming children's minds and hearts:)
