I left Sean prepping for bed around 9am, and by 9:30ish we were off and driving...in 95 South traffic. Oh yeah, with rain. It was a marvelous time!
I had brought cards, but that's not something you can easily play in the car, even in traffic. Phil decided to turn on the family's laptop and plug in "Alice in Wonderland" which I had borrowed from them yesterday but didn't watch. So, we plugged in the movie and watched it...riiiight up to the part where (SPOILER) Alice finally starts remembering everything. Then the laptop warned us it was at 6%....boo!
We landed at my grandma's place and piled out. By the end of this, it was a 2-turned-to-3 hour car ride, and I was feeling green. However, I stuffed it down, said hi to my great aunt Fleet, and gave my grandma a hug :) Eventually we had some food and that settled my stomach down, as well as not watching a bouncing computer screen in the car ;-)
I got to give my grandma a framed picture of her, Sean, and I from our wedding:
She is having trouble seeing, but LOVED it:) I felt bad that Sean couldn't be there to give it to her as well, but passed on her thanks to him! We talked, ate, laughed, watched the GSN (Game Show Network....eh, it's better than the soaps!), and played Phase 10. My dad's sisters and parts of their families showed up, but we didn't get to see my uncle and his wife/2 kids. However, we had only warned them a few hours before we were there that we were coming down to visit!
Before long, we were packing up the cards, giving out hugs and kisses and well wishes to everyone, and heading back to Northern VA. Tim called our grandma while we were leaving, then tried calling us. My grandma lives about an hour outside Fredericksburg - there's pretty much a main road that her place is at that leads you TO everything...eventually ;) So we didn't get Tim's call until about 30 minutes after leaving her place. We talked to him - mostly Mom and Dad! - for 30 minutes! Once we hung up, Phil, Sam, and I waited anxiously for the road to become less bumpy, then we finished Alice. Awesome movie!
The rest of the trip all 3 of us slept in the backseats. Once we landed where my family is staying, I jumped out with my stuff and drove back to the apartment to see my beloved before he went in for another 12 hour shift:-(
And now I'm sitting here talking to him on the phone and debating going and getting McDonalds...I have a large craving for chicken nuggets and unhealthy fries!:-)
