So I initially heard the news that Jeff Goldblum, Michael Jackson, and (today) Billy Mays died. However, the names didn't sink in except of course, Michael Jackson. I'm still not sure what to think of that....
Then, I googled the other 2 names (since they sounded familiar) and realized who they were.
= Jeff Goldblum, aka new guy on the CSI shows and one of the funniest characters, if not THE funniest, in Jurassic Park. That totally threw me for a loop...he's actually dead????
= "Hi, Billy Mays here for Oxy-Clean!" Yep, I couldn't put the name with a face till I found a news article on Billy Mays. The infomercial guy....that's hard to take too!
Honestly, I'm sure no one will really care that they died in 10, 15, or more years from now. Cept me. The first thought that crossed my mind was that "my kids will never get to see the man from Jurassic park OR the excited guy from the infomercials except in old commercials and movies...." How sad is it that the next generation misses out on such greatness??
Isaiah 55:8 - "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD."

Week 6
Can you believe I've been home for 1 1/2 months now! I worked Mon-Thur with Lauren the lamb:) So much fun! We did a lot with her Tango and some physical exercise like jumping on the trampoline, walking around, going to the park. We read several books, especially Dora books. Bless that little girl! She's gotten so big since I knew her (around 18 months old?)!!
Tomorrow brings Easter. The story of Christ's birth rings throughout everywhere I turn. Radios, churches, movies, even commercials. I am so thankful Alison and I saw our church's Easter pageant last week. I cried through parts just because I could look past knowing the actors and actresses and dancers and stage crew and could just see this really happening 2000 years ago. I pray that God blesses each person that was involved with that ministry! I also pray for those that accepted Christ because of the pageants and those that are still deciding:)
It's hard during Easter pageants for me because I remember loved ones gone ahead already to worship God face to face. Buddy Wood was an amazing man of God that I didn't get to talk to a lot personally, but saw his love for his Savior and others during his life, even when he was sick. I remember a few other gentlemen who were also ill, such as Mr. Arndt and Mr. Britton (the elder). What's hitting me hardest right now is the death of my dear friend Mrs. Usher. She died 11/11 last year, while I was in the midst of student teaching and work. I still remember breaking down at my "desk" in the hallway and running to the bathroom to cry. I don't think I will ever be able to wrap my head around the idea that she is gone from this earth forever. She doesn't want to come back to her earthly body; I suppose when I reach heaven, I'll feel the same way. However, the way she touched hearts was unmatchable. She worked as the main seamstress in the Easter pageant, so when I was still dancing in it, I would get to see her at least once every other week, then daily as the pageants commenced. She had such a heart for God that is unlike anyone I've met....and I just miss her dearly. (I've been bawling my eyes out since I started typing this....how silly is that??)
Lord, please help me make it through tomorrow focusing on the birth of Your Son, the Life of Your Son, the compassion of Your Son, the Death and Sacrifice of Your Son, and the RESURRECTION of Your Son! Hallelujah, He is Risen!

Praising in the storm....
So my life has been going by too fast....waay too fast. I am in week 4 of my 2nd student teaching placement - December 10th is coming soon! I am enjoying 4th grade but I do miss the little 2nd graders often.
You know what I despise most about being away from home? Being away from my church body. Honestly, I am okay that I have my own church and pastor here with amazing messages. However, i miss seeing the people I've known for over half of my lifetime and have seen me change over the years. I especially hate it when people get sick and are in trouble and I have to hear it from my mom or from friends on Facebook.
Like tonight. About a month ago, a friend that I've known since I did the easter pageants at church (I was 14? something like that) was in a car accident with her husband. From their site, I quote: "Apparently there was a truck on the road that they hit (both were going the same direction) and the majority of the impact was on Carolyn's side of the car. They had to cut her out of the car and medivac her to the Spartanburg hospital in South Carolina.
She was coherent and talking immediately after the crash but later became unconscious. She is currently in the Neurological ICU and they have isolated the bleeding as much as possible, while they perform a MRI."
Now, a month later, the news appears on her CaringBridge site:
Dear Friends,
With a heavy and yet rejoicing heart I report to you that our Mom, Carolyn, has been promoted to Glory....
Can I just tell you that my heart hurt so, so much when I heard this? That I literally had to run from my "post" where I was at work into the bathroom and cry for a good 5 minutes before I could even remotely pull myself together to go back out and finish the last 10 minutes of work? I bawled on my roommates' shoulder when we got to my car; she took my keys and drove for me to IHOP where we celebrated the life of my friend.
I know where she is, and I am glad although I miss her terribly. I realize that although she is gone, her legacy will live on in the Easter pageants at church, through friends, and other ways. I know she's also having a blast up in heaven, free of her body and with her Creator.
Life goes on, but it's hard for me to go on....
